JC Raulston Arboretum

After wandering around the ground of the North Carolina Museum of Art, there was still some time to kill before heading to the airport. So we used the GPS to locate nearby places of interest. The first place on the list was the JC Raulston Arboretum. Not knowing what to expect we headed in that direction looking for trees. And while a sign at the arboretum claims the site has one of the largest collection of woody plants in the United States, arboretum sure seemed like a misnomer. It was more like a flower garden than an arboretum. With a variety of gardens, the arboretum was bursting with a multitude of color around every turn. Some bees and butterflies were nice enough to "pose" for some shots. All the photos below are from the JC Raulston Arboretum, which is a must see when you are in Raleigh, NC.
